How to import active directory module in powershell

Prerequisites #

In order to use the Active Directory module, you must meet the following requirements:

  • Windows Server 2008 / R2 or later
  • Installation of Remote Server Administration Tools (RSAT)
  • Those using Windows 10 must run Windows PowerShell as an Administrator

Steps #

Follow the steps below to import the Active Directory module:

  1. Open the Windows PowerShell application.
  2. Type the command Import-Module ActiveDirectory to import the Active Directory module.
  3. You will receive the following message if the import is successful: “The specified module ‘ActiveDirectory’ was loaded successfully.”

Verification #

To verify that the import of the Active Directory module has been completed successfully, type the command Get-Module ActiveDirectory.

If it returns the following output, it means the module is active and able to be used:
