Business Continuity

Business Continuity (BCP) for Small & Mid-Sized Businesses

Disruptions happen—power outages, hardware failure, ransomware, or accidental deletion. A strong Business Continuity Plan (BCP) keeps your team operating and your data protected. Blackhawk MSP designs practical BCP + Disaster Recovery (DR) programs for Bay Area organizations that want less downtime, faster recovery, and clear roles when minutes matter.

  • ✅ Proactive planning with tested backups & restore drills
  • ✅ Defined RTO/RPO so recovery meets your business goals
  • ✅ Documentation, runbooks, and tabletop exercises for your staff
Tip: We can assess your current backups and run a quick restore test to prove recovery before a real incident.

Blackhawk MSP — Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery for Bay Area SMBs

What Business Continuity Includes

  • Risk & Impact Analysis: Identify critical apps, data, and processes. Map dependencies and acceptable downtime.
  • Backup & DR Architecture: Modern, encrypted backups (on-site + cloud) with documented retention. Regular restore tests to verify success.
  • Microsoft 365 Continuity: Email, SharePoint, OneDrive and Teams protected with versioning and backup—because retention ≠ backup.
  • Cyber Resilience: EDR, MFA, patching, immutable backups, and least-privilege access reduce risk from ransomware and human error.
  • Runbooks & Training: Clear steps for executives, IT, finance, ops and customer-facing staff. Tabletop drills to build confidence.

Outcomes You Can Expect

  • Documented RTO/RPO: Recovery Time Objective and Recovery Point Objective aligned to real business impact.
  • Verified Restores: Routine test restores (files, mailboxes, VMs) so recovery isn’t guesswork.
  • Lower Downtime Costs: Faster decisions and shorter outages with a practiced plan.
  • Audit-Ready Evidence: Logs and reports that support compliance (HIPAA/PCI/SOC2 readiness).

How We Implement Your BCP

  1. Assessment: Quick discovery of systems, data flows, and current backups.
  2. Plan & Design: Draft BCP/DR architecture with target RTO/RPO and communication trees.
  3. Deploy & Harden: Backup jobs, off-site copies, MFA, EDR, patch baselines, and access controls.
  4. Test & Train: Restore drills and tabletop exercises; update runbooks from lessons learned.
  5. Monitor & Review: Monthly reports; quarterly strategy reviews; annual full BCP refresh.

Business Continuity FAQ

What’s the difference between Backup and Disaster Recovery?

Backup is a copy of your data. Disaster Recovery is the tested process to restore apps and data to a working state within your target RTO/RPO.

How often should we test restores?

At least quarterly for critical systems, with a documented test plan and pass/fail criteria.

Does Microsoft 365 need separate backup?

Yes. Native retention is not a complete backup strategy; use a dedicated 365 backup to meet legal hold and recovery goals.
